Brompton Heights Honors Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Supervisor Marlo Carney
(November 2007) - Marlo Carney, the LPN Supervisor of Brompton Heights’ new Memory Care Wing, recently received a commemorative pin for two years of exemplary service. Angie, a Brompton resident, was pleased to see Marlo receive this distinction: “She is a very nice, sweet nurse, very patient and considerate.”
Marlo joined Brompton’s team as a nurse in 2005; when the Memory Care Wing opened in January 2007, she became its nursing supervisor.
“I love Memory Care,” Marlo said. “I feel special because I can make the residents happy. Adele and I could talk all day about her long-term memories. Frank gives the best hugs. And I still see my assisted living residents. One of them waits for me at the door each morning and blesses my car so that I have a safe drive home. Where else could you find people who love you so much?”
Marlo also enjoys the spacious new facilities and the safety features of the Alzheimer’s/Dementia Care Wing. A wander-prevention system, visual and audio nurse-call systems, and safety entrance doors help ensure residents’ safety and well-being.
Co-workers sincerely appreciate her dedication. Kay Dekker, a supervisor, said that “during the October 2006 storm, when the schools closed and Marlo did not have alternate childcare, she was still determined to assist at Brompton. So she brought her children to work. Residents and families speak very highly of her. They stop me in the hallway just to say how kind and caring she is.”
