Typical Recreational Programs at Brompton Heights Assisted Living & Memory Care from Recreation Director Kerry Dekker:
Garden Club - This club meets regularly, planting seeds, arranging flowers and a variety of other horticulture projects. In the spring, we plant seeds and arrange window boxes and flowerpots for our patio.
Bird Watching - Taking advantage or our beautiful grounds, we put up bird feeders and study the various species of this area.
Sports & Exercise - We start each day with a series of exercises and stretches to increase mobility and encourage an active lifestyle. In addition to our daily exercises, residents are given the opportunity to join our "Fit Club" fitness class, which meets every other week and is conducted by a physical education teacher. We also are participating in new exercises like yoga and Tai Chi.

Community Outings - Weekly outings are provided four times per week in our new 14 -passenger van. Residents enjoy shopping, going out to lunch and a variety of other fun destinations.
Entertainment and Guest Speakers - Professional entertainment is provided several times per month as well as guest speakers and other interesting entertainers such as magicians and therapy dogs.
Cooking / Baking - Residents enjoy cooking anything from homemade pasta to fancy deserts. We have a full activity kitchen complete with an island and a lot of space for all who would like to join inOur residents have added some new things like; bread making, making jams and jellies, and using the dehydrator to make dried fruit. Games -Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and many other interactive DVD games which keep our residents on their toes. We also play the Nintendo Wii which includes a variety of stimulating games.

Recreation is what I believe brings out the resident's personalities. No one should ever feel alone here, there are always activities planned to fit the needs of every resident! I work as a recreation assistant and my goal is to put a smile on every resident's face, and to know that we make a difference in their lives. -Lindsay
I believe in the Recreation Department because we provide a supportive and nurturing environment for our residents. All of our residents can always be kept active and busy in the Recreation Department with a wide variety of programs and activities offered for all interests. Each co-worker brings their own individual skills and talents to the department and they make working here extremely enjoyable and fun. -Linda
We are a friendly family at Brompton Heights. Everyone helps with new and different ideas (Residents, Visitors and Staff). Our Recreation team is a group of “Dedicated Door Knockers”. We go door to door inviting residents to all activities. I like knowing that we affect others lives in a positive way. -Helen

The Recreation Department at Brompton Heights is something special. Working here gives me the chance to interact with the residents on a daily basis. Recreation is so much fun at Brompton Heights, with a huge variety of things for residents to participate in.
